Why the name “Withywindle Homestead”?

Having just journeyed through great danger, Frodo and the other Hobbits are led to the House of Tom Bombadil. In the midst of a world full of chaos, shifting ideologies, insanity, and pure evil, Tom’s house is a welcome place of rest. The’ve stepped into a carefully manicured space. This place is tamed, and well-ordered. Tom is its master and it is evident that he exercises dominion over it. What the hobbits enjoy at this moment is Tom’s domicile, a place and a house that is flourishing and suits him and his wife, Goldberry.

At The Withywindle Homestead, we desire the same to be true here: that it would be a garden of order, an oasis of peace, and a place tamed by righteous dominion and mastery. And as such, our vision is to invite others into our domicile—where they can discover a taste of the Lord’s dominion and his mastery—for the Lord Jesus Christ is the only righteous King and the Priest of the Most High God (Hebrews 7), who rules over his creation with perfect dominion and grand mastery.
